Toyota Camry Maintenance Schedule: 30K, 60K, 90K, 120K

Toyota Camry Maintenance Schedule: 30K, 60K, 90K, 120K

Toyota Camrys regularly hit 250,000+ miles when maintained correctly. Here's the complete schedule of what to do at each major mileage milestone.

The Toyota Camry has a well-deserved reputation as one of the longest-lasting vehicles on the road. Camrys regularly cross 250,000 miles, and we've seen plenty in our shop with 300,000+ miles still running strong. But getting there isn't automatic. It requires consistent maintenance, especially at the major mileage milestones where Toyota recommends specific services.

This is the comprehensive maintenance schedule for Toyota Camry models from 2007 onward (the same applies in broad strokes for older Camrys, with timing belt instead of chain consideration on 2006 and earlier). We'll cover what to do, why it matters, and roughly what each item costs.

Every Oil Change (5,000-10,000 Miles)

Toyota recommends synthetic oil with 10,000-mile intervals on newer Camrys. In Simi Valley driving conditions, heat, hills, stop-and-go on the 118, we recommend 5,000-7,500 mile intervals to be safer. Severe service on Toyota's own maintenance schedule calls for shorter intervals.

At every oil change:

  • Synthetic oil and filter, $60-$100
  • Tire rotation, $30 (free at most shops with oil change)
  • Visual brake inspection
  • Fluid level checks (transmission, brake, coolant, power steering, washer)
  • Air filter inspection
  • Wiper blade inspection

30,000 Miles

The first major service interval. Most Camry components are still in great shape, but a few items need attention.

  • Engine air filter, $25-$60 (depending on model). Visible discoloration is the trigger; in our climate, often needed by 25,000-30,000 miles.
  • Cabin air filter, $20-$45. Often forgotten but easy to do.
  • Brake fluid flush, $90-$150. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, lowering its boiling point. Toyota recommends flushing every 3 years/30,000 miles.
  • Tire alignment check, $90-$150. Even Toyota's straight-tracking suspension drifts over time.
  • Comprehensive inspection, including suspension, exhaust, undercarriage, and battery test.

Total estimated cost: $300-$500 depending on findings.

60,000 Miles

The big one. This is where you start dealing with wear items that the original-equipment parts are reaching the end of.

  • Spark plugs, $150-$300. Modern Camrys use iridium plugs rated for 100,000+ miles, but some Camrys (especially V6 models) benefit from earlier replacement. On 4-cylinder Camrys, often left until 100,000.
  • Coolant flush, $130-$200. Toyota Long-Life Coolant is rated for 100,000 miles, but many shops recommend a 60,000-mile flush in hot climates.
  • Transmission fluid service, $180-$350. Even on "lifetime" fluid Camrys, severe-service driving (Simi Valley qualifies) calls for fluid changes around this mileage.
  • Brake pads, $250-$400 per axle if needed. Most Camrys need front pads in the 50,000-70,000 mile range.
  • Drive belt, $80-$150 if it shows cracking.
  • Battery, $170-$280 if load-test fails. Most Camry batteries last 4-6 years; replace as needed based on testing.

Total estimated cost: $600-$1,200 depending on what's actually needed.

90,000 Miles

Most items are mid-cycle here, but a few specific things to watch:

  • Engine air filter and cabin filter replacement, same as 30K interval.
  • Tire alignment, same as 30K.
  • Brake pads (rear), $300-$450 if needed. Rear pads typically last longer than fronts but often need attention by 90,000.
  • Suspension inspection, Toyota struts and shocks typically last 90,000-120,000 miles before showing wear.
  • Power steering fluid (older Camrys with hydraulic steering), $90-$150. Newer Camrys use electric power steering and skip this.

100,000 Miles

The "we made it" milestone. Now a few critical items:

  • Spark plugs, $150-$300 if not done at 60K.
  • Coolant flush, $130-$200 if not done at 60K.
  • Transmission service, $180-$350 if not done previously. Critical to extending transmission life.
  • Oxygen sensors, Plan for replacement around this mileage if check engine light triggers.
  • PCV valve, $30-$80. Inexpensive but easy to forget.

120,000 Miles

By now you've crossed into "second-half-of-life" territory. Items to watch:

  • Brake fluid flush, same as 30K interval if not done recently.
  • Brake pads, likely needing attention again.
  • Struts and shocks, $600-$1,400 for all four. By 120,000 miles, original struts are usually showing wear.
  • Drive belt and tensioners, $150-$300 if not replaced previously.
  • Engine mounts, Inspect for cracks. Replacement is $300-$700 if needed.
  • Wheel bearings, Listen for humming noises that change with cornering. $300-$500 per bearing if replacement needed.

150,000+ Miles

Camrys often cruise from 150,000 to 250,000+ miles with predictable maintenance:

  • Oil changes every 5,000-7,500 miles
  • Coolant flush every 60,000-100,000 miles
  • Transmission service every 60,000 miles
  • Brake fluid flush every 30,000 miles
  • Spark plugs every 100,000 miles
  • Suspension components as needed (typically 120,000-180,000 miles)
  • Various sensors and gaskets as they fail

Common Camry Issues by Generation

2007-2011 (XV40): Excessive oil consumption on some 2.4L engines. Watch oil level monthly.

2012-2017 (XV50): Generally robust. Some torque converter shudder reports, addressed with transmission service.

2018-2024 (XV70): Direct injection 2.5L can develop intake valve carbon deposits. Walnut blasting service every 60,000-80,000 miles helps.

2025+ (XV80): Hybrid Camry only. Hybrid battery health checks become important after 100,000 miles.

Why Toyota Camrys Last So Long

It's not magic, it's engineering. Toyota over-engineers components, uses conservative tuning, and tests for ridiculous mileage targets. But owner maintenance is still the deciding factor between a Camry that dies at 150,000 and one that crosses 300,000. The difference is almost always:

  • On-time oil changes with quality oil
  • Coolant flushes before they're "needed"
  • Transmission service that the dealer didn't push
  • Catching small issues before they become big ones
